Our Philosophy
Lemartec is a national General Contractor/Construction Management Firm, and MasTec’s vertical construction arm. As a MasTec company, we maintain international capabilities and strategic partnerships throughout the Americas and the Caribbean to service the most complex of projects within the industries we serve which include industrial, aviation, power, and large commercial.

The Beginning
An integrated approach to design and construction
Our story began as a family-owned and operated Design-Build and Construction Management firm specializing in industrial, energy, aviation, and commercial projects. Since the 1940s, the Garcia-Tuñon family has focused on the importance of design and value engineering as a critical success factor for each and every project. This commitment to quality from the pre-construction phase stems from our founder’s belief that an integrated approach to design and construction is the best way to ensure a successful project for our clients.
When Guillermo Garcia-Tuñón Sr., P.E., fled Cuba in 1960, he, his wife and nine children were forced to leave everything behind. That included a flourishing engineering and steel fabricating company he had spent a lifetime building, and which served the Island’s booming sugar industry, as well as some of the world’s largest corporations including Firestone, Glidden Paint, Bacardi Rum, Telemundo Studios, ESSO Standard Oil, U.S. Rubber, Polar Beer, and Goodrich Tires. After eight years in Spain, the family moved to the United States where, together with his sons, Guillermo Jr. and Jose, founded Lemartec Engineering and Construction Corporation in 1979, today known as Lemartec Corporation.
Today, we are proud members of the MasTec family. Our proud history and heritage rooted in family values and safety awareness, made it all so natural for both companies to unite. Our company culture fosters trust and creates value for all stakeholders – our clients, employees, business partners, the community and the environment.

U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Certified
Lemartec demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable construction practices and environmental responsibility through its involvement with LEED-certified projects and membership in the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Our most recent achievement in this area is the completion of the PortMiami Cruise Terminal F expansion project. This 471,500 square-foot terminal, the largest at PortMiami, has achieved LEED Silver Certification. The project showcases Lemartec’s ability to integrate sustainable design and construction practices into large-scale developments. Some of the features that contribute to its LEED certification include energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials, and improved indoor environmental quality.
As a company that values sustainability and innovation, Lemartec takes pride in being part of the green building movement championed by the USGBC.
Minority Business Enterprise
Lemartec is proud of the fact that we lead the design and construction industry nationally as a top Minority Business Enterprise. Lemartec has been awarded the Top Minority Construction Firm of the Year for the Southeast by the U.S. Department of Commerce (2018). Lemartec, through its parent company, is a Corporate Plus NMSDC Member.
